Multi-Layered Zirconia Full-Contour Crown — KATANA
Multi-Layered Zirconia Crown
,KATANA Full-Contour Crown
,Zirconia Restorations
Crafted from Kuraray Noritake KATANA multi-layered zirconia blocks and milled with precision CAD/CAM technology, this full-contour crown features a four-layer natural gradient structure (enamel 35% → transitional layers 15% *2 → dentin 35%), achieving lifelike esthetics and fluorescence in a single firing with minimal external staining.
The monolithic, metal-free design eliminates metal allergies and grey line effects. With strength options ranging from 557 MPa (ultra-translucent UTML) to 1150 MPa (HTML PLUS), the series covers the full spectrum from anterior esthetic veneers to long-span posterior bridges.

| Available Shades | VITA Classical / VITA Bleachedguide / 3D-MASTER |
| Translucency Options | ST (Semi-Translucent), HT (High Translucent), UT (Ultra Translucent) |
| Restoration Types | Single crown, inlay, onlay, short-span bridge |
| Thickness Requirement | Anterior ≥ 0.8 mm; Posterior ≥ 1.0 mm |
| Processing | CAD/CAM digital milling + full sintering |
- Esthetic anterior crowns & veneers → UTML (translucency comparable to e.max, 30% stronger)
- Anterior/posterior crowns, ≤3-unit bridges → STML
- High-load posteriors, long-span bridges, implant superstructures → HTML PLUS / YML
- Patients with metal allergies or high esthetic demands
Contra-indications: Severe bruxism (night guard required); shoulder width < 0.5 mm. UTML is not recommended for high-load posterior zones.
- Sandblast the intaglio surface and apply an MDP-containing primer before resin cementation (optimal with PANAVIA cements).
- Avoid loading the restoration within 24 hours after cementation.
- Polish all occlusal adjustments to reduce wear on opposing teeth.
- Brush normally with fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristle brush.
- Avoid biting extremely hard objects (ice, nut shells, etc.).
- Bruxism patients should wear a night guard.
- Schedule regular check-ups every 6–12 months; clean interproximally with floss or an oral irrigator.
